This week, we had the honor of being a part of The Branding Room at the WES Women's Leadership Conference, and it truly was such a fun experience. Our role was to provide mini social media audits to attendees and fellow small business owners, and honestly, we learned just as much from them as they did from us!
The most common thing we heard was, "I know I need to post on social media, but I have a hard time prioritizing it and always end up putting it off." Trust me, we get it – Wendi and I have both found ourselves struggling to run our own social media, and we do this full-time!
It’s a classic cycle: you start the day with every intention of making a post, feel anxious about the fact that you haven’t posted in weeks, then get overwhelmed by a long list of to-dos. Next thing you know, you're in bed scrolling and realizing you STILL didn’t post. And then, you repeat it the next day.
Social media can be so difficult to prioritize, but it’s a key part of growing your business. If you’re stuck in this loop, here are some tips to help break the cycle and get into a solid posting rhythm:
#1. Start small and build from there. Don’t set yourself up for failure. Make tangible goals, like committing to 1 post a week, and gradually increase as you go.
#2. Schedule in advance. Set aside time at the beginning of the month to create a content schedule. You’ll likely realize you already have more content than you think, and once it's planned out, you won’t need to worry about it until the next month!
#3. Don’t overthink it. Be authentic! It’s easy to get caught up in thinking every post needs to be perfect, but in reality, you’ll get more engagement by simply showing the real you.
#4. JUST DO IT. Honestly, sometimes you just have to get over the mental block. By not posting, you’re only holding yourself back. No one’s going to think it’s cringey for you to promote your business—so go for it and put yourself out there!
If you’ve tried these tips and still find yourself putting off your social media, it might be time to let the professionals (like us!) take the reins. We understand how hard it can be to juggle everything, but we also know the value that consistent, engaging social media brings to your business. So if you’re ready to hand it off, we’d love to help you show up online in a way that feels authentic and effortless!
